James A. W. Schuman Q.C. is a well known senior member of the Vancouver family bar, where he has practiced for more than 40 years. He is a graduate of U.B.C. law school and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1968. He is a frequent contributor to and participant in CLE family law courses and materials.
Jim has a long history of contribution to the local family law Canadian Bar Association subsection, the Family Law Advocates Group and has worked extensively for the CLE on family law topics, most recently as a key figure in developing, organizing and presenting CLE’s Family Law Biennial Conference since the inception of the event in 1985.
His volunteer activities include non-legal interests such as executive / committee involvement for the Richmond Curling Club, the Y.M.C.A., the Municipality of Richmond, and provincial, national and international curling competitions.
